Monte Cesen

Monte Cesen (1570 above sea level) is included in the Pre-Alps of Treviso and these in the Venetian Pre-Alps ; both are part of the Southern Alps.
The history of Mount Cesen begins in the Middle Ages, when 7th May 1116 Imperor Henry decided on its tops the borders through Vas, Segusino and Cesana.
It was divided into 15 comunities till the the Venetian Republic fall. Today there are still the ruins of the old houses.
Mount Cesen consists of calcareous rocks first of all of harrier eagle (white or grey rock) and a little bit of silica that cover the superficial layer of Cesen: Mount Perlo, Orsere, Barbaria, Endimione.
It snows in winter and it's hot and rainy in summer; waterways don't exist as in a typical Carnic landscape.
Mount Cesen is nowadays a Regional Reserve marked by habitats of mountain and of the Alps.
